Your birth details

0 of 4 added

Your chart is worked out from your birth date, time and place.

Your Lagna changes about every 2 hours, so the exact minute matters. Check your birth certificate if you can.

Free, and no sign-up to see your chart. Your details are used only to calculate it.

Three details worth getting right

A Vedic chart is only as exact as the birth details behind it.

Birth time, to the minute

Your Lagna (ascendant) changes about every two hours, so a few minutes can change the whole chart. Use the time on your birth certificate or hospital record if you can.

Birth city or town

The place fixes the sky as it stood over you at birth. Pick the nearest city from the suggestions.

Where your Dasha starts

The Moon's position at birth decides which Mahadasha you began in, and when each period turns.

What your free kundli shows

A kundli (janam kundli, birth chart) is a map of the sky at the moment and place you were born. This one gives you the lagna (D1) chart with its 12 houses, the sign and degree of each planet, and the Mahadasha running now on a 22-year timeline.

New to the terms? Start with the learn section: the 12 rashis, the 27 nakshatras, the 9 grahas and the 12 houses.

The birth details you need

  • Date of birth.
  • Time of birth, as exact as you can find it. The birth certificate or hospital record is best.
  • Place of birth, the town or city. Its latitude, longitude and time zone are looked up for you.

Questions people ask

Is the kundli really free?

Yes. The chart, the planetary positions and the Mahadasha timeline are free and need no sign-up. Sign in only if you want to save the kundli to your account.

Do I need my exact birth time?

For the lagna, yes. The ascendant changes sign about every two hours, so a time that is off by an hour can change the whole chart. Use the time on the birth certificate or hospital record. Your Moon sign (rashi) usually stays the same through the day.

What is the difference between lagna and rashi?

The lagna is the sign rising in the east at the moment of birth; it sets the 12 houses. The rashi is the sign the Moon was in. Vedic horoscopes are read by rashi; the kundli is read from the lagna.

Which ayanamsa is used?

Lahiri (Chitrapaksha), the standard in India. Planet positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris.
