How match making works here
Both birth charts are cast from the date, time and place of birth and read side by side. Two readings carry the weight: lagna milan, how the two ascendants sit together, which sets the overall quality of married life, and graha milan, how each person's planets fall in the other's chart, which shows how disagreements play out.
The traditional 36 guna (ashtakoot) score is shown beside them for reference, because families and pandits ask for it. Read the two together, not one instead of the other.
Guna milan (ashtakoot), koota by koota
Ashtakoot milan compares the two Moon nakshatras on eight points (kootas). Each koota has a maximum, and together they add up to 36. Tradition treats 18 as the lowest acceptable total.

Manglik (Mangal dosha)
A chart is called manglik when Mars sits in one of the houses tradition marks as sensitive for marriage. The result tells you whether each chart is manglik and, when both are, that the two placements cancel each other out. If only one is, the reading of both charts matters more than the label.
